Our ‘No Sweetie’ campaign grew out of our Tenant Voice Project. We aim to amplify the voice of people with disability who live, or want to live, in NDIA SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) and make sure that tenants drive policy and implementation of all things SDA.

When we first started talking to people about SDA we started to hear frustrations about how support providers patronised and infantilised people with disability by using ‘endearments’ that sound benign, but create a power imbalance.

Tenant Voice decided to take action - ‘No Sweetie’ is designed to disrupt this dynamic and ensure that everyone with a disability is treated equally, and with respect. Follow our campaign and be part of the ‘No Sweetie’ movement by wearing a t-shirt or cap, participating in our ‘citizen science’ Sweetie Bingo, or by making your home a ‘Sweetie Free Zone’.
